Spanish classes at Nasri Academy follow the national standards set by ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) and focus on the four key areas of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Guided by the 5 Cs—Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. Students learn not only to speak Spanish but also to appreciate the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Through books, songs, stories, games, plays, projects, presentations, and cultural celebrations such as Día de los Muertos and Día de la Herencia Hispana, students develop language skills in meaningful, engaging ways. Using the TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) approach, classes bring Spanish to life through storytelling, role-play, and interactive activities. Intermediate students build on this foundation by strengthening conversational skills, expanding vocabulary, refining grammar, and exploring current events and cultural topics through projects and roundtable discussions (mesas redondas).
